You must be kidding
For the past week, Will Butler, one of the founding members of Arcade Fire, has been collaborating with The Guardian to compose a piece of music every day inspired by a story published in the newspaper. So far Butler has drawn on the Greek debt crisis, the remains of an anti-apartheid hero being returned to his homeland and Ukrainian separatists on a Soviet holiday.
However yesterday Butler’s focus shifted to a problem we have become all-too familiar with, the current water shortages in São Paulo. The song, appropriately entitled “You Must Be Kidding,” was inspired by his first visit to the city and how the hotel he stayed at would likely still keep on using water no matter how low the supplies get.
