You just won’t BELIEVE what Facebook is going to do about click-baiting. CLICK to find out.
Earlier this week Facebook announced through their newsroom website that they are finally making an effort to reduce the amount of click-bait on the site. For those unfamiliar with the term and technique, click-baiting is when an online publisher posts a link that is typically vague and entices the reader to click and learn more. This is often done to gain page views and will further promote the link on other people’s feeds, leading to a vicious cycle.
Research conducted by Facebook also showed that most people who followed these links almost always returned to Facebook straight away, suggesting that the link gave them little to no information. With the new changes these posts will appear less and less frequently, and hopefully one day die out completely.
