Give yourself some space
We’re all familiar with our solar system, the way the planets are ordered around that fiery star we call the Sun. But have you ever stopped to think about the scale? The distance from the Sun to the outermost planet, Neptune, is more than four and a half billion kilometers, a mind-bogglingly large number. However what’s even more overwhelming than its size is the fact that almost all of that space is completely empty. Designer and artist Josh Worth decided to put that emptiness to scale. As he says, “Most of space is just space.” In his model of the solar system everything is scaled relative to the moon, which is exactly the size of one pixel. So sit back, relax and try not to space out too much.
